Housing: Shalom Homes
As the construction subsidiary of Pathways, Shalom Homes rehabilitates older homes and builds new single family homes primarily in the North Battersea neighborhood in Petersburg, Virginia. Each of these homes is developed for sale for owner occupancy.
Through Shalom Homes, first-time homebuyers of limited means can gain access to the benefits enjoyed by other homeowners. These benefits include equity and long-term family stability, as well as investment in the community and commitment to the neighborhood.
By the middle of 2008, Shalom Homes had restored or begun building twelve homes that now stand out as high quality homes in Petersburg.
Three new houses were started in fall of 2006. All of the homes built by Shalom Homes are sold as affordable homes for low-income buyers. Shalom Homes believes that all people, regardless of income, deserve a beautiful, stable, and efficient home, built for the long-term.
Shalom Homes is a licensed Class A contractor and a registered member of the National Association of Home Builders. The organization is also an active member in both Energy Star and Earth Craft programs. In building affordable, yet environmentally friendly, homes, Shalom Homes fills a void in a vastly underserved market.

Plans are currently underway to expand the reach of Shalom Homes in the Petersburg area. Shalom Homes will continue to build high quality new homes and restore historic homes to their original beauty in Petersburg until there is no longer any need to do so.
